Introduction
On November 5, Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo announced his retirement from international football at the age of 41. He informed the fans through social media.
5-Minute Clip
He posted an unforgettable 5-minute video and quoted Portugal will always be in me. Ronaldo’s former club, Manchester United, congratulated him on his incredible career.
“I spent my life working to become the best player in the world. Today, I realise my greatest victory was earning the honour of representing the best country in the world.”
He added:
The No. 7 shirt remains, the pride of wearing it is his forever, “Portugal will always be a part of me. Farewell, until we meet again.”
José Mourinho’s Praise for Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo’s former coach, José Mourinho, respected and thanked Ronaldo for his decision by saying:
“His decision must be respected, and I do respect it”. “He hasn’t ended his career, those who know him are aware that he still has goals”.
Jorge Jesus vs Ronaldo
During his farewell announcement, Cristiano Ronaldo did not address Portugal national team coach Jorge Jesus. He generally praised and thanked all the coaches he had worked with, and he did not escalate the tension between himself and Jorge Jesus.
Speculative Rumors
During his clip, Cristiano Ronaldo said something that received enormous attention: “Portugal will always be a part of me. Farewell, until we meet again.” The quote hints at the possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo returning to the national team in the future, either as a member of the technical staff or as the head coach. However, there is no reliable report regarding the rumor.
My Perspective
In my perspective, it is incredible to see that Ronaldo is respected and viewed as a role model by most fans after all the incidents between Jorge Jesus and Ronaldo that damaged his prestige.
However, on November 5, Ronaldo showed his reliability and credibility and made an amazing clip that represented him well. As Ronaldo mentioned, it is crucial to earn achievements, but fan trust always comes first.
