Mika Godts Completes €55m PSG Move: Is He The Solution If Barcola Leaves?

Introduction

On August 14, Fabrizio Romano exclusively announced that PSG has reached a verbal agreement with Ajax for Belgian left winger Mika Godts in a €55m package.

Contract Details

Transfer Fee: €55 million fee
Contract Length: Five-year deal until 2031 (according to Italian journalist Nicolò Schira)
Salary: €580,000 gross per year at Ajax

Note: The salary was not announced publicly, and the contract length was not confirmed by the club. However, reliable outlets suggest that Godts signed a deal running until 2031.

Mika Godts’s Preference

Mika Godts’s preference was leaving Ajax and starting a new journey at PSG. The Belgian winger pressured Ajax to sell him to PSG in order to level up his career.

His agent, Niels De Jonck, publicly confirmed multiple times:

“Mika wants to go to Paris.”

He added:

“He had given his priority and agreement in principle to PSG.”

Why PSG Wanted Mika Godts

In the 2025–26 season at Ajax, he scored 17 goals and provided 12–15 assists in the Eredivisie.

Mika Godts showed an incredible performance in the Eredivisie, highlighting a productive and dangerous winger.

Lastly, he was the greatest weapon of Ajax in dribbling and his ability to beat players 1v1.

My Perspective

In my perspective, this is a solid move for PSG. Buying a young talent who has the potential to become an elite winger is unmatched for a €55 million fee.

In my opinion, Mika Godts will have an easy time transitioning into the Champions League and Ligue 1 atmosphere.

He will be a great rotational player in his first year. If he transitions from his young-talent identity into a superstar, he could take over Kvara’s role in the advanced years.
