Ferran Torres Joins PSG: Can Luis Enrique Unlock Ferran’s Full Potential?

Introduction

On August 14, Fabrizio Romano breakingly announced the completed transfer of Ferran Torres from Barcelona to PSG for a €50m fee.

Contract Details

Contract Length: Five-year deal running until 2031
Salary: €14 million per year
Transfer Fee: €50 million

Note: The salary was not publicly announced. According to La Razón, PSG agreed on €14 million per year. Other reports suggest €12 million per year.

Ferran Torres’s Undervalued Feeling

After the 2026 World Cup, Ferran Torres showed an incredible performance, scoring the winning goal against Argentina.

He expected an enormous commitment from Barcelona and more chances. However, he publicly stated that the club needed to “show that they want me” and “show me some love,” but Barcelona did not show their “love.”

Ferran Torres’s Preference

Ferran Torres prefers Luis Enrique’s PSG over Barcelona, as he believes his potential will be recognized and he will have more chances to play.

He insisted on joining PSG because Luis Enrique was the one who gave him a chance to play at the World Cup.

Striker Shortage

Currently, PSG does not have any traditional striker after the departure of Portuguese striker Gonçalo Ramos and Kolo Muani’s absence.

PSG views this transfer as a reinforcement, and they believe Ferran Torres could show his potential.

My Perspective

In my perspective, this is a mediocre decision for PSG. Ferran Torres is a brilliant player who could finish the match before it starts.

They need a traditional striker who could finish the scoring part without any dribbling, and Ferran is the exact player. However, they need to be cautious about how much they use Torres, as he could become frustrated if he does not get the chance to play frequently.
