Eddie Howe Set to Leave Newcastle: Matthias Jaissle Ready to Take Over

Introduction

On 30 July, according to expert journalist Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe is set to part ways with Newcastle with immediate effect.

Official Announcement

Newcastle FC has not made an official announcement yet. However, multiple reliable outlets such as BBC, Sky Sports, and Fabrizio Romano suggest that it will be announced very soon.

Reports suggest that Newcastle will make the announcement on Friday. The players and Eddie Howe are currently preparing for the new season in Spain. Tomorrow, they will return from Spain, and the announcement is expected to make everything official.

Eddie Howe’s Legacy

Eddie Howe has been Newcastle manager since 8 November 2021, when the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund took over Newcastle, stunning football fans around the world and receiving both backlash and positive comments.

Eddie Howe changed Newcastle from a middle-table team into a top team. He bought players such as Tonali and Gordon, believing they could change Newcastle’s history—and they did.

Who Will Be the New Coach?

Matthias Jaissle of Al Ahli is the favourite to replace Howe, and Newcastle are hopeful of putting him in charge within the next 24 hours.

According to Sky Sports, the agreement is already at an advanced stage.

Al Ahli are one of the clubs owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, which also owns Newcastle, making this deal much more possible.

Other Candidates

Kieran McKenna and Antonio Conte are the other coaches who were on the list. However, Matthias is currently winning the race.

In my perspective, this is a poor decision from Newcastle United.

My Perspective

Eddie Howe has been a great coach since 2021, bringing Newcastle back into the UEFA Champions League and transforming the club from a middle-table team into one of England’s strongest sides.

Some people may think one bad season means a bad coach, but I completely disagree. Every manager goes through difficult periods, and one disappointing season should not erase everything Eddie Howe has achieved for the club.
