Introduction
Manchester City defender Nathan Aké has joined Turkish club Fenerbahçe. The 31-year-old Dutch defender is thrilled to start a new chapter after many years at Manchester City, and personal terms with the player have also been agreed. The transfer is official as Fabrizio Romano announced it by saying, “Here we go!”
Nathan Aké’s Salary
Nathan Aké will receive a wage increase of €6 million. At his former club, Nathan Aké was earning €5 million per year. Since Fenerbahçe is a Turkish club, the expectations for experienced players are much higher, making higher wages one of the main reasons behind the move.
Contract Details
The club has not officially verified the contract details yet. However, reports suggest that Nathan Aké will earn €8 million per year, with an additional €3 million in bonuses. In total, he could earn up to €11 million per season.
My Perspective
In my perspective, this is a gamble from Fenerbahçe. Nathan Aké is an excellent player for rotation, and he has the experience that could help open a new path for Fenerbahçe in the UEFA Champions League.
However, Aké is a player who has suffered a lot of injuries. Especially this year, he picked up five different injuries that kept him out for around 10–11 weeks.
