Introduction

Today, Egypt faced New Zealand in the World Cup 2026 group stage at BC Vancouver Stadium.

The Significance of the Win

The match was historic as Mohamed Salah’s goal and Egypt’s dominance echoed around the world.

Mohamed Salah scored one goal and assisted another as Egypt came from behind to beat New Zealand 3-1 and record their first-ever World Cup victory.

Poor Results

This is not the first time the Pharaohs have appeared on the World Cup stage. However, during their appearances in 1934, 1990, and 2018, the Egyptian national team failed to win a single match. That record has finally been broken.

Man of the Match

Thanks to his incredible performance throughout the match, Mohamed Salah earned the Man of the Match award by scoring one goal and assisting another.

What the Result Means…

The victory puts Egypt in a very strong position in Group G and moves them to the top of the standings.
